About the Artist Shakil Ahmad

My name is Shakil Ahmad. I was born in Karachi on 5, April 1974. It  is  very  interesting that as my name is Shakil, it is an Arabic name that means “one who makes a lot of drawings, especially one who portrays most". You can imagine how effective a name can be for any person. As an artist since when did  I start my career I am unable to understand because it was my hobby when I was in my childhood and even I didn't go to school. I studied in Islamic High School for Matriculation. After Matriculation I selected Arts during my college session. I had much interest in English Literature therefore I selected this subject. I completed my Faculty of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in govt. college of Multan and finally  got admission in university. I graduated from Govt. College Bosan Road Multan in 1997. I have a happy family of five brothers and two sisters. I am the eldest among the brothers. After my graduation, I was selected as a Medical Representative in Sulk Pharmaceutici. It was a national company.  It was a good job with a handsome salary package.

I stayed in that company for one year then I was selected in a multi-national company Ferozsons. The salary package was with special increment. I served in that company as a Health Care Officer. I was happy there but I always think about this that I must restart my fine art work but my duty was in the morning and in the evening time and It was very difficult for me to get any spare time for my fine art works. So after a much considerations I decided to resign the job. I left that job after one year. I started to go to the shop of my Ustad Jahangeer to get more knowledge in fine art. I stayed there for almost three years. During this period I tried my best to get experienced in portrait making. When I felt satisfaction as a portrait artist, I was said to work independently and my teacher honored me with an experienced certificate of three years as a portrait artist.
